Its 12MP main camera is equipped with the industry-leading Sony IMX362 image sensor with large 1.4µm pixels and a wide, F1.8 aperture lens to capture up to 5x brighter and clearer photos in low light. Its 120° wide-angle camera provides a 200% larger view than standard traditional smartphone cameras, letting you fit more scenery and people in the frame for dramatic landscape shots, better group photos, and a more convenient photography experience in confined indoor spaces. With instant switching between cameras, you can quickly achieve the perfect composition for your photo without missing the moment you want to capture. Camera performance is further improved by the Qualcomm Spectra™ 160 image signal processor (ISP), which ensures faster, smoother focusing and zooming, as well as photos with better color accuracy.

The 120° wide-angle camera on ZenFone 4 has a 200%* larger field of view than standard smartphone cameras, so you can fit more scenery and people in the frame for dramatic photos and videos that capture a true sense of place. When taking photos indoors, the wide-angle view makes it much easier to get the shot you want — especially in confined spaces where it may not be possible to take a few steps back to fit everyone and everything into the photo. The unique perspective of the wide-angle lens can also be used to stylistic effect, allowing you to exaggerate the sense of space in any setting to capture more dramatic scenes and stunning, expansive landscapes.

To capture real-world authenticity, ZenFone 4 packs a 12MP main camera with a wide F1.8 aperture, plus the latest Sony® IMX362 sensor with a large 1.4µm pixel size. Combined with optical image stabilization (OIS) that allows blur-free handheld exposures of up to 1/4 seconds — 3x longer than cameras without OIS — and a six-element lens, 5x* more light can reach the camera sensor, making ZenFone 4 perfect for capturing brighter, clearer true-to-life photos at night, in low-light environments, and in back-lit situations.

RAW file support

ZenFone 4 offers the freedom to shoot photos in RAW format, which saves the full data of the photo captured by the camera’s sensor and is ideal for enhancement with editing software. Enhancements possible with RAW files include uncovering fine details in shadows, recovering overexposed highlights, and adjusting exposure with much more latitude than with JPEG files.

Pro mode

Pro mode enables full control over ZenFone 4’s extensive camera settings, including white balance, exposure, focus, ISO, and an impressive range of shutter speeds from 1/16000 to 32 seconds. With the ability to shoot with such long exposures, you can capture gorgeous light trails or stunning night-sky photographs like those traditionally shot with DSLR cameras.

Portrait mode

Portrait mode automatically creates a shallow depth-of-field effect ideal for portrait photography that keeps the subject sharp while creating a beautifully blurred background. Previously only possible with DSLR cameras, ZenFone 4 is able to achieve this effect — known as bokeh — with advanced software processing, making it possible to create professional-looking portraits and close-ups with ease.
